The Company
MUSSINO designs and manufactures special machines and performs mechanical processing of mechanical components and steel structural work.
Development
Mussino was founded in 1972 as a mechanical precision processing workshop, specialised in mechanical processing for third parties. During the ‘eighties a new activity was included alongside the mechanical processing: the manufacture of special machines and special equipment. The first were prepared according to the Customer’s drawings, then during the nineties, with the intention of providing a more complete and qualified service, MUSSINO started design activities, first with support of external companies, then starting its own Technical Office to carry out the work in-house.
Policy
The goal that guides the company is to meet the requirements and expectations of the Customer by implementing a policy of “Total quality”, based on the principles of reliability and flexibility, involving all the company processes and all the steps of the relationship with the Customer, creating a relationship of effective collaboration. This has permitted the company to grow and consolidate its presence in the special machines sector as well as the mechanical processing sector. The company, which had its own “Quality Handbook” as far back as 1992, is now certified in compliance with the UNI EN ISO 9001:2008 standards.
Infrastructures
MUSSINO employs about 20 persons to whom we have to add the family owners, who coordinate the commercial, technical and administration activities. The works are in Alpignano, roughly 10 km from Turin, in a building of 2200 sq.mt. The mechanical processing department, that occupies an area of approx. 800 sq.mt, houses several machines, prevalently with numeric control, able to process parts of small and medium-large dimensions (X = 4200 mm, Y = 2500 mm).
The machines pool consists of:
- NC reamers
- NC milling-reaming machines
- NC milling machines
- Lathes
- Grinders
- Surface grinders and other tooling
The assembly/testing department, covering an area of approx, 800 sq.mt, is equipped with different workshop instruments and a three-dimensional DEA measuring machine, located in a specific air conditioned room, for the metrological checks. To complete the production department there is the warehouse, and to integrate the range of services offered, a well-equipped painting department.
The computerised technical office, complete with CAD work stations, carries out the design of technical solutions according to the Customer’s specifications as well as research and workshop support activities.
